An exceptional silver table snuff box of pillow form with profuse castings around the top and sides. Made in 1833 by Nathaniel Mills in Birmingham. This box is in near mint condition with very little wear to the high points, there is crisp guilding inside with some faint surface scratches and good hallmarks on the top and bottom. The 23 part hinge is undamaged and the box closes tightly. The inscription reads "Presented by the inhabitants of Airdrie to John Russell Esq., one of the Ballies as a token of grateful respect for his amiable manners as a gentleman and his indefatigable zeal, ability and impartiality as a Magistrate. 14th Oct. 1835".
