A beautifully patenated George II English provincial silver porringer. Made in Newcastle in 1757, during the first year of John Langland's solo working career. From 1757 to 1778 Langland 1 worked by himself before teaming up with John Robertson 1. This cup has a beautiful colour and a very clear set of hallmarks as well as contemporary marriage initials on the base. In general it is in very good condition with no rips or repairs only a few soft knocks around the base. There are engraved initials on the side and a lovely pair of reeded handles. A very collectable piece of provincial silver.
