A beautuful large George V silver quaich, made by Edwards & Son of Glasgow in 1937, it has a full set of hallmarks for London. Edwards & Son along with some other Scottish silversmiths had their goods hallmarked in English cities. This quaich has the traditional two handles which are bright cut engraved and sits on a single foot. A quaich is a traditionally Scottish cup or bowl, the earliest made in the 16th and 17th centuries were wooden and staved like barrels. Since then silver has been most commonly used and they are used for celebrations and toasts. This one is particularly grand and in excellent condition.
