A stunning and very rare George II Scottish silver mug by James Mitchell I, Edinburgh 1746. This bellied style half pint mug was made in the time of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Battle of Culloden. Silver by James Mitchell I is very scarce, the mug is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. There are a full set of crsip hallmarks underneath with the Edinburgh town mark, date letter, Mitchell's unusual mark and the Assay master Hugh Gordon's mark. A really good piece of 275 year old Scottish silver and a must for any collector.
