A rare Glasgow silver sugar bowl by Robert Gray with Edinburgh hallmarks for 1784. Glasgow silversmiths who wanted items assayed, prior to the Glasgow Assay office opening in 1819, had to submit them to the Edinburgh Assay office. This bowl has a full set of hallmarks under the base and a family crest on the front. The bowl is cover with bright cut engraving of flowers and swags. A good piece of Glasgow silver.
