An exceptionally rare and well made Victorian Scottish silver gilt and agate vinaigrette. Although unmarked this fabulous agate vinaigrette was probably made in Edinburgh in Scotland around 1860. It is in excellent condition with no damage to the agates. It has a gilt pierced grill and a sponge underneath which would have been soaked in smelling salts or perfume, there is also a lovely domed rock crystal on the top of the lid. All the metallic areas are covered with intricate engraving as well as period initials engraved underneath. Very collectable and beautifully made.
