A superb Victorian table snuff box made in London in 1842 by John Howes, a rare maker. The box is profusely covered in engraved scrolls and swirls, there is a family coat of arms in the top cartouch. The 17 part hinge is tight and in keeping with the quality of this box. The interior has original gilding and there are hallmarks on the base and lid.
