An exceptionally rare George I silver snuff box. Made in London in 1716 by James Overing, a very scarce maker. The box is simply made with a stand away hinge. There are a full set of hallmarks and no damage or repairs. This is by far the earliest snuff box I have had and is the successor to the Queen Anne style tobacco boxes. A great addition to any collection and about as early as you will get in snuff boxes.
