The snuff box 6006-083 has an inscription inside the lid "From Major General White". The box was made in Birmingham in 1822 by Thomas Shaw. After extensive research the Henry White listed below is the only soldier that could gifted the box (if the inscription is original) in 1822.
Henry Lewis White (?-1822)
- He married Catherine Browne on the 18th of August 1815 at Fort William, Calcutta, Bengal, India. They had one daughter, Louisa Ann (White) Prinsep
- Henry Lewis White had a distinguished military carreer with the East India army. He served in numerous campaigns, including the Anglo–Maratha Wars, Rohilla Wars, the campaign against Tipu Sultan and The Seige of Bangalore in 1791.
- He died on the 7th of November 1822 at Bath, Somerset. England.
A military history of Major General Sir Henry White was found on his memorial stone in Bath and is as follows;

- " Near this stone are deposited the mortal remains of major general Sir Henry White K.C.B. Who died on 7th November 1822. He served in the Bengal Army, a distinguished officer for a period of fifty years. The judicious position taken by his division in the attack on Agra which accelerated it's fall and the reduction of the strong hill fort of Gwalion by siege are proofs of zeal and military skill which do honour the memory of a soldier."
