A beautiful Edwardian silver, enamel and agate bowl. Hallmarked in London in 1908 by Edwards & Son of Glasgow. The bowl replicates a medieval chalice made in the 8th century. It was found in 1868 as part of the "Ardagh Hoard" in Ardagh in County Limerick in Ireland by two local boys. They were Jim Quinn and Paddy Flanagan, all the items are now on display in the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin. The chalice is fully hallmarked and comes with its own lockable box. There is also a carved wooden base decorated with celtic knotwork. The chalice is in excellent condition and represents a great piece of medieval history. This design was also used as a trophy for "The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship" originally gifted to them by Samuel Maguire an Irish Republican.
